Maureen Mak’opiyo Atieno

My family consists of six members – two sisters and a brother together with my mum and dad. I’m fifteen and the second-born. I live in Nairobi in an estate called Kariobangi South. It’s rather an old estate, but it’s a good place to live. Our city is polluted and some of the roads have very big potholes which look like craters. Anyway that’s the bad part – the good part is that there are many parks with animals that you can visit. My special interests include reading novels, creating awareness about gender and AIDS and listening to hip-hop music. My ambition in life is to become a politician and who knows, maybe I will become the first woman president in Kenya! One good thing I like about myself is that I don’t care what other people think or say ‘cause deep down inside I’m sure of who I really am.
